IRENE CARTER EDWARDS WADSWORTH
BATTLEBORO - Irene Carter Edwards Wadsworth, 87 passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010. She was born September 18, 1923 in Nash County to the late Raymond and Grace Collie Carter. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, William Lawrence Edwards, Sr.; brothers, Albert, Elbert, Robert, Johnny, and Raymond Carter; sister, Mary Sue Manning; and step-son, Bobby Edwards.

She is survived by her husband, William R. Wadsworth of Battleboro; daughter, Linda Hunt and husband Billy of Nashville; sons, William Edwards, Jr. and wife Esther of Roanoke Rapids and Michael Edwards and wife Cathy of Spring Hope; step-children, Patricia Davis and husband Mike of Elm City, Raymond Wadsworth and wife Brenda of Whitakers, Marvin Wadsworth and wife Billie of Red Oak, Billy Joe Wadsworth and wife Sandie of Red Oak, Evelyn W. Varnell of Wilson, Ann Gay and husband David of Selma; foster son, Daryle Schnurstein and wife Vanessa of Petersburg, MI; twenty five grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Ronald Carter and wife Betty of Rocky Mount, Luther Carter and wife Patricia of Cabot, AR; and sister, Pattie Hardy of Nashville.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 pm Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road. Funeral services were held 2 pm Sunday, October 17, 2010 in Johnson’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
