NASHVILLE - Elsie Sykes passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010. Elsie was born on March 10, 1924 in Franklin County daughter of the late Walter and Geneva Swanson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Sykes, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Elsie is survived by her two sons, Ralph Sykes and wife, Diane of Momeyer; Ray Sykes and wife, Joan of Nashville; her two daughters, Barbara Sykes Little and husband, Jerry of White Marsh, VA and Carolyn Sykes Holcombe of Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Swanson of Nashville.
Visitation was Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Cornerstone Funeral Home from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service was at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 26, 2010 in the chapel Cornerstone Funeral Home in Nashville, with the Rev. Jason Gault. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville.
Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice and Home Care of Nash.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations, 1052 South First Street, Nashville, NC 27856.
