NASHVILLE - Billy Marshall Vanhook, 85, passed away at home, Saturday, July 17, 2010. Billy was born September 9, 1924 in Nash County. He was the son of the late Sam and Dora Vanhook. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Sykes and Jackie Vanhook, one brother, Russell Vanhook and a son, Billy Vanhook, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Vanhook; daughter, Brenda Griffin and husband Dwayne of Red Oak; five grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday, July 19, 2010 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Rock Creek Baptist Church. Funeral Service followed in the Chapel with the Dr. Blake Dempsey officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Creek Baptist Church at 1238 Rock Creek Drive, Nashville, NC 27856 Arrangements are entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations, 1052 South First Street, Nashville, NC 27856.
