CHARLES LEONARD JOHNSON
Charles Leonard Johnson, 82, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010. He was born January 18, 1928 in Nash County, oldest son of the late Charlie Andrew and Hilda Hollingsworth Johnson.  He was preceded in death by sister, Patty Ann J. Mizell and brothers, Ira H. Johnson and John D. Johnson.

He is survived by his wife sixty-one years, Mattieleene Smith Johnson; three daughters, Gail J. Suggs of Louisburg, Irene J. Dowdle (Leighton) of Marion, and Jean J. Boseman (Joel) of Battleboro; three sons, Charles Andrew Johnson (Laura), Craig L. Johnson, both of Rocky Mount, and Joel R. Johnson (Linda) of Nashville. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Mary J. Elliott of Rocky Mount; many nieces and nephews and a host of good friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Chapel of Memories, Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Rev. Steve Roberson and Rev. Coye Still, Jr.  officiated. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
