Moore receives honor
ROCKY MOUNT -- The North Carolina Wesleyan College Department of Athletics has announced that junior outfielder Daniel Moore and freshman pitcher Jimmy Martin of baseball have  earned USA South Conference Player and Rookie Pitcher of the Week recognition.

The two helped the Bishops to a 3-0 record last week, including a key regional win over Randolph-Macon College and a league sweep of Shenandoah University.

A native of Nashville, Moore hit .556 (5-for-9) with six runs scored, four RBI, one double, one home run, three walks, one sacrifice fly and one sacrifice hit last week.

In a 19-9 win over Randolph-Macon, he was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI, one double and one walk.

In a two-game sweep of the Hornets, Moore was a combined 2-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBI, one home run, two walks, one sacrifice hit and one sacrifice fly.

Moore prepped at Northern Nash High School and is a product of the Nashville Recreation Department baseball program.

A native of Fontana, Cal., the talented Martin recorded the win the Battling Bishops’ 19-9 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

In his first collegiate start, Martin tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks with one strikeout.
