NASHVILLE - Bettie Marks Riggan, 99, passed away, Sunday, September 27, 2009. She was born May 23, 1910 in Warren County. Bettie was the daughter of the late Rufus and Geneva Ball Marks. Bettie was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, T.C. Riggan, five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Riggan and wife Florrie of Castalia, two sisters, Myrtis Wilzan and husband John of Conyers, Georgia, Lena Marks of Charlotte, one sister-in-law, Elsie Marks of Castalia, one grandson, five step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was Monday, September 28, 2009 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Thomas Riggan. A funeral service was held Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Albie Brice officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church of Nashville.
