LAVERN PLYS FREEMAN (May 9, 1919 - September 27, 2006)
Nashville - LaVern Plys Freeman, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2006. He was born on May 9, 1919 in Nash County, son of the late John Freeman and Maggie Drake Freeman. Preceded in death was his wife, Willie Bass Freeman.

LaVern, served his country in the Army during World War II, upon his return he continued his service to the community with the Nashville Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years. LaVern was owner operator of Freeman's TV/Appliance business from 1957 until his retirement in 1982, a member of Nashville Baptist Church. He enjoyed life to the fullest with golfing, hunting and fishing and spending time with friends, he found his greatest love and joy by spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter: Anne Bass Freeman and Fiancé John Chamblee two sons: Timothy Lee Freeman and wife Yvonne, and Michael LaVern Freeman and wife Michele, and six grandchildren: Johnny and Lee Chappell, Ashley Hassell, Scotti Freeman, Annie Gilmore, and Zachary Plys Freeman.

A graveside service was held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 30, 2006, Forest Hill Cemetery with Dr. Carlton McKita officiating.

Visitation was held from 5-7:00 Friday, September 29, 2006 at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Willie Bass Freeman Charities 726 East Washington Street Nashville, NC 27856.

Arrangements by Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Ave. Rocky Mount, NC.
