JAMES MONROE MANNING
NASHVILLE - James Monroe Manning, 92, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006.

He was born in Nash County, September 18, 1914, son of the late Able Rance Manning and Ada Mae Matthews Manning.

His wife, Minnie Medlin Manning, son, James Willard Manning, sisters, Alcie Matthews, Alvarhada Bass, Nancy Ella Murray, Salome Hendricks, brothers, Edgar Manning and Luther Manning preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Smith of Fayetteville, NC; son, Edward Manning and wife, Dixie of Nashville, NC; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 226 S. Barnes Street, Nashville. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the funeral home in Nashville, with Rev. James Rogerson and Rev. Roy Clifton officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Spring Hope, NC.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church, 1779 Mount Zion Church Road, Nashville.
