ROCKY MOUNT - Herman Harold "Hal" Fryar, Jr., age 77, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Born in Wilson County on January 31, 1949, he was the son of the late Herman Harold Fryar, Sr. and Loleader Bulluck Fryar. He was also preceded in death by son, Walter Bryan Jeffreys.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Bryan Pitt Fryar; his children, Dana Fryar Severini (Billie) of Rocky Mount, Gina Fryar of Rocky Mount, Layne Jeffreys King of Rocky Mount, and Robert Nelson Jeffreys, Jr. (Kryssy) of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Becky Fryar Maynard (Billy); and his nieces and nephew.
A Celebration of Hal's Life will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating. A visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Englewood Baptist Church.
