Rocky Mount - Mel R. Strickland passed away August 25, 2024. He was born in Nash county on August 23, 1944 to Randolph S. and Margaret B. Strickland. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60, Sylvia B. Strickland.

He is survived by his daughters, Robin Willams of Red Oak and Amy Bennett of Raleigh along with their husbands, Todd Williams and Sean Bennett; 3 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at at Pineview Cemetery officiated by Rev. Keith Griffin on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
