Margaret Fly Hamlin, 89, passed away on Jan. 6, 2009. Mrs. Hamlin was born September 27, 1919 in Rocky Mount, NC. She retired after 20 years of service as an RN with the rank of Major in the United States Army. Mrs. Hamlin was preceded in death by her father, William Fly; mother, Bula Bulluck Fly; two sisters, Irma F. Fly and Lillian Parrish.
Mrs. Hamlin is survived by her brother, William Flye and wife Mary of Jacksonville, Fl. and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to honor the life of Margaret “Aunt Lukey” Fly Hamlin will be held on Thursday Jan. 8, 2009 at Pineview cemetery located in Rocky Mount at 11:00 am. The family would like to send a special thank you to Brenda Respess and the hospice staff and also to all of the residents and staff of the Alterra Sterling House in Rocky Mount for all of their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Hospice 2460 Curtis Ellis Dr. Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
