ROCKY MOUNT - Marvin Douglas "Doug" Wainwright, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Born in Pitt County on January 29, 1943, he was the son of the late Marvin Willis Wainwright and Beatrice Elizabeth Ellis Wainwright. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Garland Wainwright (Ann) of Farmville.

Doug is survived by his wife of 40 years, Melga Taylor Wainwright; his son, Ben Davis and wife, Kim of Virginia; his daughter, Tina Davis Hunt and husband, Howard, of Florida; six grandchildren; his brother Phillip Wainwright and wife, Rose.

A service was held April 30, 2023 at of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Richard Collins officiating. Burial followed the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
