ROCKY MOUNT - Jesse Clinton "J.C." Phillips, Sr., age 79, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. Born in Edgecombe County on May 30, 1943, he was the son of the late Clinton Phillips and Emma Lancaster Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Linda Viverette Phillips; and his sister, Fay Phillips Pennington.
J.C. is survived by his one son, Jesse Clinton Phillips, Jr. and wife, Sheryl; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Royce Williams officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
