SHARPSBURG - Lessie Boone "Granny" Bailey, age 100, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022. Born in Nash County on November 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Luther T. Boone and Martha Taylor Boone and was the youngest of three siblings. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Floyd" Bailey; her sons, William "Gerald" Bailey and Samuel "Sammy" Wilfred Bailey, Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Marlene Nichols Bailey; her brother, Herman Boone; and her sister, Bessie Boone Smith.
Granny Bailey is survived by her daughter-in-law, Camilla Evans Bailey; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service t will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
