Wesley Neil Matthews, 76, passed away April 21, 2022. He was born July 4, 1945, in Nash County to the late Thomas Eli and Nancy Green Matthews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Atlee Matthews and Russell (Doris) Matthews.

He is survived by his wife Shelby Jones Matthews; his children Brent Thomas Matthews and wife Sara, Melody Matthews Carter and husband Scott, and Patrick Neil Matthews and wife Anna; five grandchildren; sisters-in-law Pat Renfrow and husband Jan and Dorothy Matthews, brothers-in-law AlgieJones, Jr. and wife Ina, Rex Jones and wife Elaine, and Kim Jones and wife Tracie and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Monday, April 25, 2022, at Englewood Baptist Church. Burial, Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Englewood Baptist Church.
