CLARA MAE JESSUP BASS

NASHVILLE - Clara Mae Jessup Bass passed away December 4, 2021. Clara was born in Dinwiddie, Virginia to the late Joseph Clyde Jessup and Katie Grissom Jessup of Chester, Virginia.In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers; Louise Jessup (Sonny) Emory, Joseph Clyde (Dixie) Jessup Jr (JC) and Charles Manson (Barbara) Jessup.

Clara was married to the late David Percy Story and four children were born from this union; Carol Story McCray (David) Jackson of Chesterfield, Virginia, Steven Wayne (Quyen) Story of Australia, David Clyde Story (Jr.) (Ann) of West Point, Virginia, and the late Brenda Story (Brein) Jackson of Gray Louisiana.

After his death she married Donald Ray Bass with one child born from this union; Amy Bass Jackson (Brent) of Dinwiddie, Virginia.

Clara also had a step-son; Joe Bass of Illinois and a step-grandson Ryan.

Clara is survived by three sisters and one brother; Frances Jessup (Ollin) Harrell, Nancy Jessup (Raymond) Tyler, Barbara Jessup Wells Scribner (John), and Richard Albert Jessup (Buck); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A grave-side memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Prince George, Virginia 23805.The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Clara's beloved church; Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1779 Mount Zion Church Road, Nashville, North Carolina 27856.
