ROCKY MOUNT - Robert Earl "Bob" Alford, age 86, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Born in Halifax Count on January 28, 1935, he was the son of the late Charlie Cooper Alford and Bessie Hamlet Alford. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Smith; his brothers, James Edward Alford, Charlie Clifton Alford, Julian Glynn Alford, William Cooper Alford, and Roy David Alford; and his sisters, Nannie Alford Johnson and Louise Alford Wainwright.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Hudson Alford of Rocky Mount; his children, Rene' Alford Smith (Stanley) of Nashville, Dana Alford Worrell (Roger) of Sanford, Travis Alford (Gina) of Rocky Mount and Shannon Alford (Melanie) of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Harold Ray Alford (Donnie) and Kenneth Lewis Alford; his sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Blackford and Gaynelle Alford; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 12 p.m. at West Mount Baptist Church, Rocky Mount. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service in the Sanctuary of West Mount Baptist Church.
