ROCKY MOUNT - Jean Barnes Williams, age 86, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021. Born in Nash County on June 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George Ralph Barnes and Mamie "Estelle" Joyner Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Martha Ann Barnes Tyson.

Jean is survived by her husband of 69 years, William Taylor Williams; her daughter, Vicki Williams Rivenbark of Wilmington; her son, William Taylor Williams, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Clayton; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Margaret Barnes Holland, G. W. Barnes, Mary Lucy Barnes Minshew and her husband, David, Joyce Faye Barnes Minshew and her husband, Bobby, Olivia "Libby" Barnes Faroux and her husband, Larry, Doris Barnes Voller, Samuel Barnes and his wife, Christine, Sherril Barnes Enroughy, Brenda Barnes Radford and her husband, Mike, and Kathy Barnes Watson and her husband, Mike; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
