MARGARET WILLIAMS HUX COCKRELL JOYNER
Margaret W. Joyner, 89, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008. She was born in Martin County January 8, 1919 to the late George and Ella Ayers Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Joyner, James Cockrell and Charlie Hux; brother, Eddie (Buddy) Williams; sister, Helen W. Doyle and daughter, Rachel Joyce Cockrell James.

She is survived by five daughters, Barbara-Jean Cockrell Shafer (Skip) of Rocky Mount, Peggy Hux Whitecotton of Mississippi, Janice Hux Hayes (Bill) of Florida, Marie Hux Barnes (Vernon) of Winston Salem and Shirley Hux of Rocky Mount. There are numerous other family members.

A funeral service was held at 3:30 pm Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on Sunset Avenue with Rev. Dr. Skip Shafer, Elder Glenn Ricks, and Rev. Dr. Kenneth Johnson officiating followed by a burial at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount.

The family received friends on Friday evening September 26, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home of Skip and Barbara-Jean Shafer, 10 Sunset Drive, Rocky Mount.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to her church, 1114 S. First Street, Nashville, NC 27856.
