WILLIAM ROY WADSWORTH

BATTLEBORO - William Roy Wadsworth, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Born in Edgecombe County on January 1, 1930, he was the son of the late William Lewis and Ida Turner Wadsworth. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene E. Wadsworth; son, Raymond William Wadsworth; sisters, Eula W. Summerlin and Mattie W. Pigg; brothers, Johnny R. Wadsworth, George A. Wadsworth and Edward Wadsworth.

He is survived by his sons, Marvin R. Wadsworth and wife, Billie and Billy Joe Wadsworth and wife, Sandy, all of Battleboro; his daughters, Patricia Wadsworth of Rocky Mount; Evelyn W. Varnell of Wilson; and Clara Ann Gay and husband David of Selma; his step-children, Linda E. Hunt and husband, Billy of Zephyr Hills, Fl.; William L. Edwards, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids; Michael W. Edwards and wife, Cathy of Archer Lodge; 17 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, one great- great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Brenda Wadsworth of Whitakers and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Mike Edmundson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in William's memory to Speights Chapel UMC, 1774 Speights Chapel Road, Whitakers, NC 27891.
