ROCKY MOUNT - Michael Christopher Hackney, age 30, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020. He was born in Nash County on March 31, 1990, the son of Christopher "Chris" Glenn Hackney and Kimberly "Kim" Yvonne Cone Hackney. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lewis Ray and Undine Viverette Wilder; and maternal grandmother, Joyce Ann Gurganus Cone.

In addition to being survived by his parents, he is also survived by his six year old son, Tristen Issac Hackney; brothers Brandon Hackney and Timothy "Timmy" Johnson both of Rocky Mount; his maternal grandfather, Wilbur Carroll "WC" Cone and his fiancé, Amerlice Williams, of Rocky Mount; four aunts; one uncle.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor William Robinson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 7 - 9 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
