A state trooper arrested a man in Nashville on Tuesday afternoon after he failed to stop for the officer.
Trooper Bradley Boone said he was traveling on Highway 58 S just south of East Old Spring Hope Road around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1 when he clocked a vehicle going 66 miles per hour in a 55 mile an hour zone.
Boone said he turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle sped up, reaching speeds of 88 miles per hour. Boone said the vehicle passed two other cars before coming into Nashville.
The driver, later identified as Dequan Daveon Cooper, 22, allegedly pulled into a driveway on Sixth Street.
"He jumped and ran," Boone said.
Boone said after a brief foot chase, Cooper was caught.
"He had marijuana and cocaine in his possession," Boone said.
Boone said Cooper also had a probation warrant.
Cooper was charged with driving 88 in a 45, no operator's license, reckless driving, failure to heed light and sirens, possession of marijuana, improper passing, resist, obstruct, delay and possession of cocaine.
He was placed in Nash County Jail with no bond.
Boone said Cooper's girlfriend and two children were in the car at the time of the incident.
