A Nashville man was arrested last week and charged with sex offenses involving a child.
Nashville Police Officers served a warrant on 68-year-old William Junior Rigsbee, of Nashville, last week at the request of the Rocky Mount Police Department.
According to Corporal Michael Lewis, of the Rocky Mount Police Department, the incident was reported to police in May.
"It started back in 2007 and was reported to us in May 2017," Lewis said.
"It involved a young female juvenile," Lewis added. "The child is now an adult."
Lewis said the reports were of inappropriate sexual relations with a juvenile. Rigsbee was a friend of the family of the victim, Lewis added.
After investigating the incidents, warrants were obtained for Rigsbee for first degree sex offense with a child, two counts of indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape.
Lewis said the warrants were turned over to the Nashville Police Department since Rigsbee lives in Nashville.
Rigsbee has a court date of August 17.
