Joyce Tippett Bennett, age 87, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was born March 1, 1930 in Rocky Mount, daughter of the late Romey William Tippett and Mattie Reid Tippett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stephen D. Bennett, Jr; her two sisters, Jean Tippett Winbon and Margaret Tippett Sellars.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Dodson Bennett, III and wife Janet of Wilson; two daughters, Gina Bennett Cotton and husband Ed of Highpoint, Lee Bennett Bailey and husband Al of Red Oak; two grandsons and three granddaughters

Services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Englewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Visitation with the family will be immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall at the church until 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Joyce requested memorials may be made to Edgecombe-Nash Humane Society, Post Office Box 1783, Rocky Mount, NC 27802 or the Endowment Fund of Englewood United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 7128, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
