Edward Joyner Powell, Sr.

Edward Joyner Powell, Sr., age 90, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017. Born in Halifax County, on April 4, 1926, he was the son of the late Gaston Edward Powell and Myrean Rose Crawley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Andrews Powell; son, Capt. Jerry Powell; great-grandson, Kyle Drake; and brother, Joseph John Powell.

He is survived by sons, Edward Joyner Powell, Jr. and wife, Sue, of Hurdle Mills; Steve Powell and wife, Wanda, of Rocky Mount; and Craig Powell and wife, Ellis, of Red Oak; daughter, Martha Powell Moose of Rocky Mount; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Powell of Rocky Mount. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ivey Rollins Powell of Rocky Mount.

Services were held February 24, 2017 at Englewood United Methodist Church, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Terry Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
