Hunter Ray McKenney, age 78, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. Born in Washington, DC on April 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Hunter Canor McKenney and Mildred Blanchard McKenney. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Michial Hunter McKenney and Eric Christopher McKenney, and his daughter, Mary Stacey McKenney Cuningham.

He is survived by his wife, Hilary Rossow McKenney; his daughter, Erin Elizabeth McKenney Jefferson; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 1 ½ hour prior to the service.
