Ramona Powell, age 87, of Rocky Mount, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born in Halifax County on November 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Claude Norwood "CN" Powell and Nannie Barnes Powell. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marigold Chandler and Vertie Mae Williamson; and her brother, Claude Powell, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Ivey Powell, Sr.; her daughters, Claudia Sikes and her husband, Grant, of Rocky Mount; and Mona Powell of Greenville; her sons, James R. Lawrence, Jr. and wife, Tonnie, of Raleigh; and Ivey Powell, Jr. of Rocky Mount; 8 grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Sunday, December 13, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Dennis Darvelle and Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
