Josephine Turner Tharrington, age 89, of Castalia, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Born in Nash County on November 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Early Preston Turner and Eula Bertha Griffin Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, L. G. Tharrington.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Narron and her husband, Kent, of Castalia; her sons, Dale Tharrington and his wife, Cindy, of Castalia, Zollie Tharrington of Castalia, Larry Tharrington of Castalia, Ronnie Tharrington and his wife, Shelia, of Castalia, and James Tharrington and his wife, Debbie, of Castalia; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11am in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with Pastor Billy Henry and Bishop Carroll Wiggs officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives the evening prior on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
