GEORGE HOWELL JONES

NASHVILLE - George Howell Jones, 72, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. He was born in Nash County on October 13, 1942. He was the son of the late William Howell Jones and Lois Frazier Jones.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Jones of Nashville, NC; his daughter, Amy Jones Miller of Rocky Mount, NC; his son George Thomas (Tommy) of Nashville, NC; his sister, Brenda Lee Jones and her husband, Billy of Nashville NC; his grandchildren, Justin Thomas Jones, William Albert Miller and Brittany Nicole Miller.

George was a farmer for over 60 years and was renowned for his innovations of making things easier. He loved riding his motorcycle and was an avid hunter and gamesman. He was a great storyteller that enjoyed making people laugh. His heart was as big as his smile and he never met a stranger. George was also a retired fire fighter of Castalia Volunteer Fire Department. He was a proud member of the H.O.G. Chapter of Rocky Mount Harley Davidson for over 10 years.

A Funeral Service will be held in his memory on Friday, July 3, 2015at 11:00 AM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC.27804. Burial to follow the service at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Nashville, NC. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:30 PM at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of George, to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, Post Office Box 758517, Topeka, KA 66675, or the Disabled Veterans, 1020 19th Street NW, Suite 475, Washington DC

Arrangements are entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
