Roy Garland Brantley, age 92, died on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Born in Wilson County on August 26, 1922, he was the son of the late Bijah B. Brantley and Arma Rena Denton Brantley. He was also predeceased by one sister, Mildred B. Ricardo of Chesapeake, VA.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Irene Cockrell Brantley; son, Dr. Jeffrey G. Brantley and his wife, Mary, of Durham; daughter, Carolyn Brantley Moessen of Rocky Mount; sisters, Ruby B. Braswell of Rocky Mount, and Dorothy Maney of Chesapeake, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Carlton Cockrell officiating. Visitation will be held at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
Flowers are welcome, but donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
