GEORGE WASHINGTON WALKER

George Washington Walker, age 88, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Born in Halifax County on April 27, 1925, he was the son of the late Ernest Walker and Rhine Carter Walker. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rosa Mae Joyner and son, George Walker Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elsie Mosley Walker; daughters, Betty Braswell and husband Dennis of Rocky Mount, Faye Hendricks of Battleboro, Shirley Finch of Pinetops, Janice Hall and husband Scott of Nashville, Lynda Cash of Houston TX and Diane Matthews and husband J.T. of Battleboro; sister, Rhine Lee Smith of Louisburg, Betty Lou Mosley of Henderson, Ernestine Pernelle of Alert NC and Kattie Mae Faulkner of Castalia; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and severalĀ  nieces and nephews.
A service was held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. Burial was at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
