Richard Lee Shelton, 77, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014. He was born in Lecompte, LA April 30, 1936 to the late James R. Shelton, Sr. and Mary Ann Davis Shelton.   In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by sisters, Loraine Morrel, Dorothy Hinsley and brothers, James Rufus Shelton, Jr., Gerald Shelton and George Shelton.
He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Mildred Alford Shelton; sons, David Shelton, John Shelton and wife, Sandy, Wayne Shelton; five grandchildren; brothers, Gordon Shelton of Walker, LA, Carol Wayne Shelton and wife, Glyn of Montgomery, LA and Harold Glenn Shelton of Woodville, TX; sister in law, Margie Shelton of Montgomery, LA and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Harvest Baptist Church with Pastors Gary Wood, Daniel Moss and Frank Moss officiating.  Interment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
