JAMES “JIM” ROY COCKRELL, SR.

James “Jim” Roy Cockrell, Sr., 67, passed away Friday, October 04, 2013.  He was born in Nash County, December 6, 1945 to the late Roy and Geneva Batts Cockrell.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Cooper Cockrell; son, Jim Cockrell and wife, Julia; daughter, Abigail Cockrell Pridgen and husband, David; four grandchildren; brother, E.J. Faircloth and wife, Debbie; sisters, Hadessa Coley, Geraldine Minshew and husband, Hugh, Myrtle Tyson and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Rematha Weaver.
A funeral service was held October 6, 2013 at Faith Christian School at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Griffin, Dr. Edward  Bunn and Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Private committal followed after the service.
Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Edgemont Baptist Church, 1622 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC  27803 or to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas  66675.
