Richard Earl Bottoms, 70, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013. He was born in Edgecombe County on August 12, 1942 to the late Norman and Dolly Jackson Bottoms. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Wade Bottoms.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Patterson Bottoms; daughters, Lisa Lumley and husband, Randy of Rocky Mount, Terri Tripp and husband, Bill of Tarboro, and Stacey Langley and husband, Rick of Nashville; sons, Brian Bottoms and wife, Robin of Nashville, Jody Bottoms and wife, Leslie of Rocky Mount; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Bottoms of Florida.
A funeral service was held Monday, August 5, 2013 at Falls of the Tar River Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Autry Pridgen officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.
