The Edgecombe-Nash Retired School Personnel met April 8, 10:30 a. m. in Braswell Memorial Library’s Warner Room.

After President Mary Williams welcomed everyone, Reverend Mary Mann presented an Inspirational Moment titled “Inspiration.”  New member Carrie Umstead Davis was recognized.

‘BlueCross/Blue Shield Benefits Updates” were given by Angela Saner and Tracy Byrd, Customer Service Representatives.

Continuing with the meeting, Donald Thomas suggested members read the recent State Convention Highlights in “Panaroma.”

The next meeting will be a luncheon meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 11:00 A. M. at Gateway Center.  Names of retirees 85 or older are needed since they will be recognized. Members are to contact Donald Thomas for reservations.

Community Schools Specialist, James Bellamy; Ready Schools Coordinators Patsy Allen and Viola Barnes Gray spoke on “Ready Schools.”  They work with Kindergarten through Third Grade.  Baskerville is one such school. Contact Melissa Lowry at Mlowry@depc.org for volunteerism.  For more information, contact the Down East Partnership for Children or visit at www.depc.org.

In closing, Hostess Kay Thomas was thanked for serving refreshments.
