DERVY ALLEN
Dervy Lee Allen, 72, died Saturday, June 30, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 7 at the Church of God of Deliverance Church, 140 E. Goldleaf St. in Rocky Mount with the Rev. Mark Dickens officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery.

He was born in Nash County to the late Phillip and Polly Mae Jones Allen. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Doc Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Occie Smith Allen of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Lee and Willie Pope, Gloria Pope, and Lukisha Faye Strickland, all of Rocky Mount, Debbie Lewis of Nashville and Cindy and Calvin Sweet of Sharpsburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Lee and Louella Allen and Darnell Allen, all of Nashville, Larry and Lorraine Allen, Dervy Matthew and Arethea Allen, and Timmy Allen, all of Rocky Mount; sisters Eldress Christine Hinnant and husband minister Willie Hinnant of Bailey, Hattie Mae Wilkins of Nashville, Loree Hannon and husband Joseph of Washington, D.C., Willistine Allen of Rocky Mount; brothers, Eugene Allen and wife Marjorie Allen, Phillip Jr. and wife Lillie Mae Allen, all of Wilson; 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; and aunt, Naomi Williams of New Jersey.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 6, at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 1912 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount.
