VERNON ELMO BAKER
Vernon Elmo Baker, age 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Born in Edgecombe County on April 19, 1920, he was the son of the late Charlie Amber Baker and Mabel Walker Baker. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Baker Winters and Majetta Baker Robinson.

He is survived by his  wife of 72 years, Guildaroy Henry Baker; sons, Vernon Bradford Baker, and Van Brockton Baker and wife Susan, all of Rocky Mount; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Bettie Kirkpatrick and Rev. James Proctor officiating.  A private burial was held at the family cemetery in Whitakers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barium Springs Home for Children, P.O. Box 1, Barium Springs NC 28010.

Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount.
