George Selva Edwards, Jr., 77, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2012. He was born in Wilson County July 13, 1935 to the late George S. Edwards, Sr. and Gertrude Williams Edwards. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by a brother Billy Fate Edwards and a great grandson, C.J. Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Yvonne Edwards of the home; four children, Allen Edwards and wife Lynette of Rocky Mount, Patrick Edwards of the home, Judy Edwards Cooper of Rocky Mount, Tonya Edwards Nelms and husband Charles of Red Oak; brother, Wayne Edwards and wife Sandi of Montgomery, AL; sister Betty Batchelor and husband Edward of Sharpsburg; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Hudson officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
