MARY LOUISE DIETZEL ARMSTRONG
Mary Louise Dietzel Armstrong, 85, died peacefully at home early Tuesday morning, January 24, 2012.

Mary Louise was born in Rocky Mount, NC on July 16, 1926 to the late Paul Ralph and Ida Mae Weeks Dietzel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jolly Herbert Armstrong, grandson, Bradley Justin Armstrong, and sister, Peggy Dietzel Cockrell.

She is survived by her son, Paul X. Armstrong and wife Sheree of Rocky Mount, NC; daughters, Pam Armstrong of Roanoke, VA and Mary Ann Armstrong Boddie and husband Mike of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Angela Armstrong Hall, Johnny Armstrong, Angie Armstrong, Rhonda Armstrong, and Olivia Boddie; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brandon Dees officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.

Mary Louise devoted her life to her husband, children, and home. Many came to know Mary Louise when she greeted them as her customers at the downtown Belk Tyler’s in the garden shop and housewares department. She was known for her pleasant nature, cheerfulness, and friendliness. Mary Louise never met a stranger and was loved by many. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she attended worship and loved being a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class. The family deeply and sincerely appreciates the faithful prayers of so many during her brief illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 505 S. Englewood Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
