J. D. Williams passed away on October 12, 2011. He was born January 3, 1930 to the late C. T. Williams, Sr. and Lucille Taylor Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Peggy Calhoun Williams, children Marsha and Jimmy East and Billie Jones of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters Cleo Matthews, Shirley (James) Proctor, Nancy (Bobby) Ellis and brothers Oliver (Julia) Williams and Don (Jenelle) Williams, sisters-in-law Patsy Williams, Margaret Joyner, and Frances (Robert) Morris, brother-in-law Billy (Vernell) Calhoun, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Margaret Ellis and Rachel Williams, brothers C. T., Phillip, Glenn, Milton, and Aaron Williams, and brothers-in-law Cecil Matthews, Ed Ellis, and Leon Joyner.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to West Mount Baptist Church or Community Hospice.
The funeral service was held Saturday, October 15 at West Mount Baptist Church at 11 a. m. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
