LOIS CHEWNING PROCTOR
Lois Chewning Proctor, 71, of Rocky Mount passed away September 11, 2011. Born March 27, 1940 in Edgecombe County,  she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Hattie Ramsey Chewning. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Bennett, and Tom Chewning.

Survivers include one daughter, Cindy Thorne and husband, Dennis Thorne; two grandsons; sisters, Broadus Cobb, Rachel Sexton, Doris Godwin, JoAnn Hayes (Robert), Carolyn Atkinson (John); friend, Linda Burgess, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in the chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1501 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
