JOHN ASTER WINSTEAD SR.
John Aster Winstead, Sr., 83, passed away, Tuesday, June 21, 2011. He was born April 15, 1928 in Nash County. John Aster was the son of the late George and Bessie Riley Winstead.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Flossie Fisher Winstead, two sons, John Aster Winstead, Jr. of Woodbridge, VA., Nelson Ray Winstead and wife Jill Winstead of Nashville, one daughter, Faye Winstead Bone and husband Roy H. Bone, Jr. of Rocky Mount, three sisters, Glesma Ray Smith, Ollie Deloise Troxell , both of Newport News, VA., Barbara Frances Walker and husband Arnold of Yorktown, VA., and five grandchildren.   

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church at 2883 N. NC 58 HWY, Nashville, NC 27856.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service was held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Coggin officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery of Nashville.
