VERA MAE EDWARDS DOZIER
Vera Mae Edwards Dozier, 93, died peacefully Monday afternoon in Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.

Services will be held at The Salem Baptist Church in the Salem community at 2 pm Friday afternoon with the interment following in the Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church at 1:00 pm.

Vera Mae researched history for the Edwards and Dozier families and the Salem community and church. Her passion as a young homemaker was arranging flowers for church and later in life she became interested in genealogy. She grew up in the Edwards Crossroads community and attended school in Spring Hope, graduating from Spring Hope High. She married Casper H. Dozier in 1938 and they raised their family on the farm in the Salem community where they operated a country store. She was active in the church and community until 2007. She spent her last four years at Sterlin House in Rocky Mount.

She was preceded in death by her husband Casper and a brother Bernard Hugh Edwards, Jr. of Bunn. She is survived by her daughter, Ferne Dozier Jones of Greenville, three sons, Casper Edwards (Eddie) Dozier of Greenville, David Eric Dozier of Fuquay Springs and Glenn Thomas Dozier of Pafftown. Two sisters Claudaline Daniels of Wake Forest and Jean Pulley of Rolesville, one brother Joseph (Joe) Edwards of Bunn.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made directly to Salem Baptist Church, 4502 Swift Creek School Rd., Whitakers, NC. 27891.
