Snow make-up day is Feb. 19
Nash County students received their first snow day of the year, as snow fell throughout Nash County last Thursday, canceling school.

The snow fell until around lunchtime with rain following for the rest of the evening.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported around 50 weather-related accidents Thursday, but no major injuries were reported. Brian Brantley, EMS Director for Nash County, said he was unaware of any major accidents.

"There were more numerous accidents that were sliding off the roadway," Brantley said.

Brantley said things were busy at the 911 center between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Thursday and one extra 911 communications employee was brought in. "We handled it all with our regular staff in EMS," Brantley said.

Nash-Rocky Mount School students will have to make up the snow day on February 19, which was originally set as a teacher workday.
