NASHVILLE - Johnnie Thomas Evans, 86, passed away Friday, January 26, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Nash County, September 18, 1920. He was the son of the late Willie and Annie Wheeless Evans. He was a custodial supervisor for the Nash County School System and was a member of Beulah Church of Christ for over 65 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Ann C. Boykin and husband Ray of Nashville; one sister, Valeria Raines of Raleigh; a special caregiver, Nancy Carr of Nashville; one grandchild Dana Temple and husband J.J.; three great-grandchildren, Hanna, Zachery, and Daniel (Grasshopper).
Mr. Evans was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Bessie Carr Evans, three brothers, one sister and one granddaughter, Corkey.
The family received friends Monday, January 29, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Bowling Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held at Bowling Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Danny Stalls and Rev. Daniel West officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Beulah Church of Christ, 450 E. Beulah Road, Nashville, N.C.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bowling Funeral Home and Crematory, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
