MARIE MOORE TYSON
ROCKY MOUNT – Marie Moore Tyson, age 72, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Nash General Hospital. She was born in Johnston County on April 18, 1938, one of 15 children of the late Lawrence Hoyt Moore and Cindy Lee Moore.

She is survived by her husband, Roy J. Tyson; daughter, April Dawn Tyson Exum and her husband Ashe of Kinston; daughter Maribeth Tyson Wooten and her husband David of Red Oak; son, Michael Royce Tyson and his wife Candy of Macclesfield; sisters Christine Creech of Smithfield, Gretchel Jones and Audrey Wooten both of Clayton; brothers, Elwin Moore and wife Joyce of Sandston, VA, Hoover Moore and wife Nora of Panama City, FL, Billy Moore and wife Anna Jean of Sandston, VA, Robert Moore of Emerald Isle, NC and Linwood Moore and wife Peggy of Wilsons Mills, NC; five grandchildren

Marie was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Moore, L. H. Moore, Glenwood Moore and Raeford Moore and two sisters, Geraldine Powell and Margaret Moore.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Wheeler-Woodlief Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Pridgen, Jr. and Rev. Jimmy Wooten officiating. The family  received friends and family one hour prior to the service. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1731 Hunter Hill Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount.
